The voice
Went to watch the 1st leg of the Asean Cup finals at Kallang stadium on Wednesday. Didn't really know what to expect coz' I never been to one before.

Met up with KH and Sat at Kallang MRT and the entire place is packed with people...all wearing red. Made our way to the stadium and the best seats were already taken...so ended up seating behind the goalpost. The atmosphere was fantastic.

Its just a wonderful feeling to be there soaking up the atmoshphere. Never really seen such a sight before so it was pretty cool to me. The studium was packed to the max and almost everyone wore red. The Thai supporters occupied less than 1/10 of the stadium.

The wave...the roar...the cheers...the jeers...the vulgarities...

I think these are why soccer is so addictive. Strangers coming together to cheer their team and mingle around. Anyway..we sat beside a group of die-hard enthu Singapore fans and a group of malays. And if theres one thing malays are good at..its scolding vulgarities. Everytime a decision went against Singapore...the jeers and vulgarities...oh man...its damn funny. Love the 'butoh' part man. Everyone in the stadium were scolding the refs in unison.

When the first goal was scored...everyone leapt to their feet and cheered loudly. At that time I felt really good. Oh man...should have taken pictures of the crowd. Never seen such a huge crowd before.

But somehow...after half-time we were already lifeless and what really got the crowd going was when the Thais refused to carry on. It was a tense situation and at the same time funny. Those Malay jokers said really funny things. Went on to jeer for 15 full minutes.

Finally the game resumed and Sinagpore scored via penalty. Again all of us erupted from our seats. Dancing madly and stuff. So yea...Soccer really is a game of passion and emotion, be it if you are the player or the fan.

After the match...on our way out, chants of 'ole' echoed throughout the stadium and outside as well. Never seen such a high crowd before.

It was a damn fun and high event. Words can't describe my feelings and seriously...you would have to experience it yourself to understand what I mean.
